How does NetJapan’s Inline Data Deduplication and Compression work?

All of our backup and disaster recovery solutions include our Inline Data Deduplication and Compression (IDDC) feature as standard. With IDDC, deduplication is performed while a backup is being made, not afterwards. This means you no longer need to invest in expensive additional hardware simply to perform deduplication.

IDDC disk images are normally 20% to 30% smaller than images made using standard high-compression alone. In vmGuardian and ActiveImage Protector for Hyper-V, IDDC’s compression rates are even greater when applied across all the VMs being backed up in a VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V host - up to 70%!

Backing-up multiple virtual machines on a daily basis can greatly increase storage demands. Virtual machines running the same operating system create a lot of redundant data that can quickly consume your available storage space. The more duplicate data you have, the more our Inline Data Deduplication and Compression feature can reduce the size of your backups and save you storage space.
