Instant recovery for Windows systems with vStandby
NetJapan's vStandby virtual standby availability solution creates and maintains dormant virtual replicas of your physical and virtual machines. These standby virtual replicas, created directly on a VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V host, are kept up-to-date using scheduled asynchronous incremental snapshots. A vStandby virtual machine can be instantly started when switchover becomes necessary.
You can use vStandby to:
- Be up and running in 2 minutes even in the event of total hardware failure
- Lower the cost of downtime in terms of both time and money
- Simplify migration and virtualisation of Windows machines
- Regularly test your Business Continuity Plan
vStandby is licenced per operating system for both physical and virtual Windows machines. It exists in 2 versions:
- vStandby Server Edition
- vStandby Desktop Edition
2 Minute downtime – Near-line availability
Create standby virtual replicas of mission critical servers in a VMware ESXi hypervisor for cost effective protection with standby availability.
Backup solution agnostic
vStandby installs and works seamlessly alongside pre-existing software and hardware backup solutions, meaning you can have vStandby availability without sacrificing your existing backup solution.
Instant recovery to any point-in-time backup, no need to add drivers
Start your standby virtual machine from a selected point-in-time snapshot without needing to install additional drivers.
Revive physical machines in no time
Restore a vStandby virtual machine, including all the changes made while in operation, back to the original physical hardware if needed.
Scheduled incremental physical to virtual snapshots
vStandby protects your servers by creating scheduled incremental snapshots to ensure a pre-defined level of availability.
Supports free versions
vStandby supports the paid and free licence versions of VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V. See documentation for complete details.
- Asynchronous replicas sent directly to a VMware ESXi/Hyper-V host
Your physical and virtual machines are replicated directly to an ESXi or Hyper-V host (please specify your preference when ordering), creating dormant standby virtual machines that are ready for instant switchover when the source machine fails.
- Multiple recovery points
Choose any boot point you want to use when booting a vStandby replica server on a regular VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V hosts. For the free version of ESXi, vStandby will always boot from the latest available boot point.
- Non-intrusive failover testing
vStandby replica servers can be boot-tested without interrupting your failover process, ensuring your peace of mind.
- Failback solution included
If you need to restore back to your original hardware, vStandby includes a recovery environment to recover your replacement virtual server, including all the changes made, back to the original physical hardware.
- Minimal disk space requirements
Disk space requirements are minimised thanks to NetJapan’s inline P2V technology that can convert from physical to virtual without a pre-existing backup image.
- Compliance: Test your Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
With vStandby you can regularly test your Business Continuity Plan in minutes, helping you comply with government business continuity regulations.
