We strongly recommend you to read the Upgrade FAQ and the Release Notes before you start with the upgrade process of your licences.

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • Installation/Upgrade it not possible without an ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018 Product Key (Trial, Outright or MSP).
  • Check the OS compatibility for ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018
  • ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018’s advanced features and future technologies require a new full disk image and incremental backup chain be created after upgrading.
  • Please note: Only an ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018 recovery environment can restore a backup image file made using ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018. However, ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018 recovery environment can restore backup image file made from previous versions of ActiveImage Protector.
  • Note for ActiveImage Protector Hyper-V v3.5 clients upgrading to ActiveImage Protector 2016/2018 for Hyper-V version: We recommend you to use the new default installation path instead of using the old installation path. More details how to keep backup configuration can be found at bottom under “SIDE NOTE:”
If you already installed ActiveImage Protector 2016 for Hyper-V using the old installation path, you can upgrade the backup configuration with the following solution: Run aipcontrol.exe (located in ActiveImage Protector 2016 for Hyper-V installation folder) and enter the following commands (the path and name of the files only examples, this can vary):
    scheduleupgrade “C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Hyper-V with SHR\Schedules\your_profile.ini”
    Additional:
    profileupgrade “C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Hyper-V with SHR\profiles\your_profile.ini”
    profileupgrade “C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Hyper-V with SHR\profiles\your_profileINC.ini”
In both cases you will see a message saying “profiles unchanged”; you can safely ignore this message.
